9. IMPORTANT PROGRAMME SCOPE
This programme should be presented as pastoral and foundational counseling training, not as a substitute for regulated clinical education.
Students are trained to provide biblical guidance, pastoral support, listening, encouragement, relationship education, prayer, discipleship, and appropriate care within their level of training.
The programme does not by itself authorize graduates to diagnose or medically/clinically treat mental, psychiatric, psychological, substance-use, or other health conditions, nor does it confer a government-regulated professional counseling or psychotherapy license.
Where a situation exceeds the student’s training or scope, the student should seek appropriate supervision and/or refer the person to a suitably qualified professional.
10. THE CORE PHILOSOPHY OF THE SCHOOL
The School of Pastoral Care and Counseling can be built around this simple philosophy:
LISTEN
Before you speak.
UNDERSTAND
Before you advise.
CARE
Before you correct.
PRAY
With wisdom and compassion.
TEACH
Biblical truth faithfully.
PROTECT
The dignity, privacy and wellbeing of those entrusted to your care.
REFER
When the need is beyond your training.
SERVE
Without seeking control, recognition or unhealthy dependence.
PROGRAMME STATEMENT
The Diploma in Pastoral Counseling prepares ministers and lay leaders to become compassionate, biblically grounded, ethically responsible caregivers who can walk with people through life’s challenges while pointing them toward Christ, healthy relationships, spiritual growth, restoration, and appropriate support.
