PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
The Certificate in Youth and Adolescent Counseling is a practical and biblically grounded training programme designed to equip pastors, youth leaders, ministry workers, teachers, mentors, counselors, parents, and Christian caregivers with foundational knowledge and skills for supporting young people through emotional, spiritual, relational, academic, family, and developmental challenges.
The programme combines biblical counseling principles, adolescent development, communication skills, pastoral care, safeguarding, ethical boundaries, family support, crisis awareness, referral practices, and discipleship.
The programme emphasizes that youth counseling is not simply giving advice. It requires listening, understanding developmental needs, respecting boundaries, protecting vulnerable people, applying Scripture wisely, recognizing limitations, and connecting young people with appropriate support when specialized care is needed.

PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY
Youth counseling should not be built around control, fear, condemnation or dependency. It should help young people experience appropriate care, understand biblical truth, develop healthy relationships, make responsible decisions, grow spiritually, recognize their strengths, and mature toward responsible adulthood.
The counselor does not replace parents, guardians, teachers, pastors, medical professionals, mental-health professionals, or other qualified providers. Instead, the counselor works responsibly within an appropriate scope and connects young people with additional support when necessary.
CHRIST IS THE CENTER.
SCRIPTURE IS THE FOUNDATION.
COMPASSION IS THE POSTURE.
LISTENING IS THE METHOD.
WISDOM IS THE GUIDE.
SAFEGUARDING IS THE RESPONSIBILITY.
ACCOUNTABILITY IS THE STANDARD.
MATURITY IS THE GOAL.
PROGRAMME OUTCOME
The Certificate in Youth and Adolescent Counseling prepares students to provide responsible, compassionate, biblically grounded and ethically informed foundational support to young people within appropriate ministry, mentoring, educational and pastoral-care contexts.
Graduates are expected to understand both how to care and when to seek additional help, ensuring that youth ministry remains Christ-centered, safe, accountable and focused on the healthy development and maturity of every young person entrusted to their care.
